Special stamps were used for the postage of newspapers, which had different rates to ordinary mail.
These stamps sold for 1 kreuzer. This design comes in several types, Type I being scarce and Type II uncommon. This example is the common Type III.
1 kreuzer lilac, Type III |
½ kreuzer blue-green |
No varnish bars. Issued imperforate, although private perforations are not uncommon.

With varnish bars. After 1905 the stamps reverted to the third issue without bars.

First issued on Enamelled Paper, then in 1909 on thin transparent paper, and finally in 1910 on thick smooth paper.
